Alibaba: Comedian Attacks Super Falcons For Protesting Their Unpaid Wages

Despite the overwhelming support that the victorious Super Falcons are getting after the country’s sports authorities failed to pay them their well deserved wages, popular comedian, Alibaba has towed a different path, attacking the girls for demanding their emoluments.

He described the protest staged by the girls as inappropraite and distasteful. He said the players should learn from ministers who represent the country in international meetings and soldiers who fight with and lose their lives without being compensated and do not stage protests.

The veteran comedian said that the girls overreacted by protesting for what he described as ‘peanuts’, adding that they weren’t the first to make Nigeria proud.

His words below;

“So what is all these noise about? Have you heard that the retirees who served this country and still haven’t gotten pensions, die on the reaccreditation queues complain? These Falcons are lucky they were not soldiers! The gaurdroom they would have been put would have been cold and humbling. How dare you? How dare you ask? How dare you even think of protesting? OK the silver medalists got celebrated in their countries… so? See,… you are all better behave yourselves.

The other room is occupied so there is no room for this recalcitrant behaviour. Protesting for peanuts! Mscheeeeeeeeew! Can’t you see how we treat our stadia? Go and ask well… some people who played with Segun Odegbami don’t have their gifts yet. Do the maths. Go solve the mathematics of we-don’t-care-raised-to-power-shioooor. Are you the first to represent your country. Okwaraji died. We no send am. Talk less you sumall sumall girls that don’t know anything. Falcons kor… far cry ni.“

Headies 2016! Olamide vs illbliss vs Falz vs Lil Kesh – Who Do You Think Will Win The “Best Rap Album?”

Headies is just around the corner and the anticipation is getting high with different artistes competiting for several awards in different categories. One of the biggest category with a lot of bragging right is the covetous “Best Rap Album“.

This year we have four rap albums from four rappers that would be competing for the award. Olamide’s “Eyan Mayweather”, Lil Kesh’s “YAGI”, Falz’s “Stories That Touch” and iLLBliss’ “Powerful”.

Olamide’s “Eyan Mayweather” was released in November 2015 with several hit songs from album like “Eyan Mayweather”, “Don’t Stop”, “Melo Melo”, “Bobo”, “Sold Out”, “Lagos Boys” and “Where The Man”.

Lil Kesh’s “YAGI” released early ths year, 2016 was a success been his debut album he didn’t do too badly. He had a lot of hit tracks from the album which are still very much trending like “Semilore”, “Cause Trouble”, “Is It Because I Love You”, ‘Efejoku”, “Ibile”, “Life Of A Star”, “Problem Child” and “For You”.

Falz who happens to be the highest nominated artiste for this years Headies has been exception this year with hits back to back and his platnum selling album “Stories That Touch”. 2016 has been Falz’s year and he made very good use it. His album was definitely one of the best album released in 2015/2016. It has hit songs like “Soldier”, “Celebrity Girlfriend”, “Ello Bae”, “Clap”, “Soft Work”, “Karashika” and “Chardonnay Music”.

It’s really going to be a tough decision for the judges because each of these three albums are fantastically good and have good ratings and reviews from music critiques and pundits. The fact that this particular category is a non-voting category the judges would need to really get it right by doing a lot of research and analyses before they make the decision.

This is going to be the first time Lil Kesh would be going head to head with his mentor, Olamide in an award.

❖ Do you think Lil Kesh can pull it off from his Boss Olamide or would Falz snatch the award from the YBNL rappers?

❖ Who do you think would win the award for ‘Best Rap Album’ Olamide, Falz, Lil Kesh or illbless?

‘We Make Music For Money Not Popularity’ – D’Banj Says

Singer D’banj, in a recent interview, has revealed that Nigerian artistes make music for the money involved.

The ‘Emergency’ crooner, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, said artistes will work harder when they get paid for their works.

In his words:

“A musician is supposed to know how to play good music or collaborate with others to make good music in order to get paid for the services.

“We are not releasing music for it to be on You Tube or some other social media to make us popular. A musician should create room for some other persons to contribute to his music to make it worth the people’s while.

“We are releasing music to make money and to have money to help ourselves and our families,” he said.

On versatility, D’banj, noted that he is open to other genres.

“I am not shying away from other genres of music, but you just have to do the one that suits a song. As an entertainer, I have to be versatile in what I do.”

MTV takes back Wizkid’s ‘Best Africa Act’ award

If you call 2016 the year of Wizkid, one is not wrong. The self-styled Baba Nla has had a wonderful year. Gaining more recognition on the international stage, allegedly getting signed to Sony Music, and winning a lot of awards.

It is one of the awards he won that may prove to be the one major stain for Wizzy this year.
Some days back, MTV had announced Wizkid as the winner of the Best African Act category in the 2016 edition of the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA). This was expected since he is the biggest artiste in Africa at the moment but suddenly the organizers made a U-turn, stripped Wizkid of the award and instead gave it to Tanzanian musician Alikiba. The official reason given by MTV was that the award was given to Wizkid in error and that Alikiba was the true winner of the award

Wizkid on the other hand has deleted all traces of him winning the award from all his social media accounts. Alikiba has reacted with happiness to the news. Commenting that “Thanks to MTV for this huge honor It’s very exciting to be recognized at the MTV EMAs and I am delighted to bring home the award to my fans in Tanzania and East Africa. Thank you to my family and management.”
This is not the first time Alikiba and Wizkid have gone head to head in conflict. The two reportedly had an issue at the recently held Mombasa Rocks concert headlined by American superstar singer Chris Brown in Kenya over who would perform as the last act on stage.
According to Pulse, Alikiba was reported in that concert as saying though Wizkid is a bigger music brand across Africa; he was more popular in Kenya and so would perform after Wizkid.

NL Exclusive: The Real Story Behind Lil Kesh, YAGI And YBNL (Things You Should Know)

A lot of stories have been making the rounds ever since Lil Kesh, a protégé of Olamide Baddo (CEO of YBNL) floated his own record label YAGI (Young And Getting It). For Once, we would like to make clear the entire story.

YBNL as a record label was never structured as a core business entity, it was more of a family. One of the core values of the label and its CEO Olamide Baddo was to pick up talents from the streets, nurture their growth into stardom in such a way that someday they get to pick up another talent to grow. This cycle was built to go on and on and this saw to the emergence of Lil Kesh, Viktoh, Adekunle Gold.

These 3 acts got signed into the YBNL family and ever since rose to stardom. They individually signed 2 years contracts, but indeed it was never about the contracts. Olamide wanted to see these 3 men grow.

All glory to God, these men have grown to a level where they could stand on their own. Olamide in his benevolence wasn’t going to tie these young men down as his dream of building young leaders is coming to live. He advised these men at the end of their contracts to start something of their own, build your own empire, as soon as any of them felt strong enough mentally and financially they should pick up talents from the streets and also help them grow.

In light of this, when Lil Kesh’s contract ended, it was just about time to listen to the leader Olamide Baddo as he always does. He floated YAGI, a move which a lot of people misconstrued to mean that he left Olamide Baddo.

In clear terms, Lil Kesh and the entirety of YAGI is a part of YBNL. YBNL is one big umbrella that still oversees the activities of Lil Kesh as an artiste and YAGI as a record label.

Olamide still plays an integral role in the career of the young man Lil Kesh. If there is anything that has changed, it will be the fact that Lil Kesh handles the finance of the brand Lil Kesh and YAGI, but asides that nothing else has changed.

The situation we have here is a good mother and daughter where in this case YBNL is the good mother and YAGI is the daughter. Every good mother wants the growth of her daughter and that’s just exactly what we have here.

As much as possible, we will like the world to know that nothing has and nothing will change between Olamide Baddo and Lil Kesh. At no point in time will Lil Kesh ever be ungrateful to God and Olamide a man who picked him up from the streets.

At a point in time, YAGI will also be looking to have artistes signed under the label as this has always been the dream from inception.

Special appreciation to all the fans of YBNL and YAGI all over the world. We wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you for the love, may God bless you.

So long you work so hard, you Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL), and as much as you getting something from what you do, you Young And Getting it (YAGI).

Lil Kesh just dropped his first official single since the success of his debut album YAGI, Shele Gan Gan. This is not just any song, it is a VIBE.
